Le icone e i mostri. Citazioni sacre nell’iconografia di un bestiario contemporaneo

Abstract

Il contributo intende indagare le citazioni grafiche nella serie Bestiarij, realizzata tra gli anni Settanta e Duemila da Dmitrij Prigov, artista contemporaneo tra i maggiori interpreti del concettualismo moscovita. In questi disegni i procedimenti stilistici adottati (i soggetti illustrati, i colori, la disposizione spaziale, la simbologia) rimandano ai tradizionali modelli dell’iconografia religiosa ortodossa, qui rielaborati in un risultato originale.

This paper focuses on the graphic quotations in the Bestiarij series, drawn between the 1970s and the 2000s by Dmitrij Prigov, one of the leading figures of the Moscow's Conceptualist movement. The stylistic features of his works, such as subjects, colors, spatial arrangement and symbolism, refer to the traditional models of Orthodox religious iconography, here reused in an original way.
